Discover a rather special family history at the Institute Lumière in the city of Lyon. It is was in Lyon that the Lumière brothers invented the cinematograph and shot the first film in the history of cinema, La Sortie des usines Lumières…

It was natural thus, that Bernard Chardère and Maurice Trarieux-Lumière, grandson of Louis Lumière, should create a tribute to cinema and to the two brothers.

Consisting of a museum and a projection centre, the Institut Lumière continues to fight for the preservation of film heritage. If you're curious about the Luimère adventure or just enjoy watching good films, then don't miss the chance to visit this fascinating place.
